Sometimes what’s required is more than one option to help ease your back pain daily. I prefer to have two different chairs available for my use. Sometimes, I’ll just use my high back office chair and possibly move to the kneeling chair later in the day. I decide according to how I feel in the morning.
Reclining angle as well as angle of tilt are also important in choosing the best chairs for bad backs. You should feel almost a sensation of weightlessness when you lean back in your chair so that there’s no extra pressure on your back- some liken this to gravity inversion therapy since it gently stretches your spine.
You can feel this by supporting yourself with your arms on a strong, flat surface. The first sensation you get will be how the gentle stretching relieves some of the pressure on your spinal column.
Remember to make sure the chair is well made, including the arms- plastic usually doesn’t last long, not around my house anyway- go for steel arms if possible. Also, be sure that the height of the chair itself will accommodate your desk height appropriately.
For an even better effect, anyone with back pain will want to have a heated seat- you can find heated pads in upper level chairs or use a heating pad. I prefer a heating pad myself- it’s easy to put a heating pad just where you need it.
