Increase in mobile phone and gadget recycling expected in coming months with the launch of new Apple products

Aug 04, 2024 - Consumers are expected to recycle more old gadgets, iPods and iPhones in the coming months as Apple releases a range of new products.

Although no formal announcement has been made by the company, the new iPhone 5 is expected to be released in September/October with an updated iPod Touch rumoured to be out for Christmas.

In our technology obsessed world, many people see getting the latest gadget as a must have and this means that older gadgets get put away, forgotten about or even thrown away.

Every year, one million tonnes of electronic equipment is discarded in the UK, with old mobile phones making up 1 – 2% of this waste according to research. The battery and LCD display of mobile phones have toxic components so sending them to landfill can have serious effects on the environment.

Gadget recycling is a great way to get rid of unwanted items in your home and get some extra cash, especially in the run up to Christmas.

If you’re looking to sell your iPod, you want to make sure that you’re getting the best possible price for it. There are many places where you can sell iPod from online auction sites to high street shops, but they may not always offer you the best possible price and may also not be very convenient if you’re busy.

Selling with an online recycling company is one of the best options to make sure that you get the most money from your gadget. Many recyclers offer only one standard price so it is recommended that you find a company who offer you a quote depending on the condition of your item so you can get the best price for your unwanted gadget.

Many people won’t automatically think “I should sell my iPod if they come across an old gadget hidden in a drawer or cupboard at home and may end up throwing it away, but gadget recycling not only stops your old iPod from ending up in a landfill site but also gives you money so it’s beneficial for both the environment and your pocket!
