The company pledges funds to the American Red Cross to help in disaster recovery in Japan after recent devastation

Just Eyewear, an online retailer of prescription glasses, has pledged a portion of the proceeds from each pair of glasses sold on the site during the months of March and April. “We’re donating $5 of every sale to the American Red Cross for Japan Earthquake relief,” reported a spokesman for the company. “We are committed to being a good corporate citizen, and this is one of the ways that we will be working to fulfill that commitment.”

The donation from Just Eyewear will not be limited to any specific dollar cap; the money will be forwarded directly to the Red Cross to provide help for their efforts. “We know that our donation may pale in comparison to those made by larger companies, but we want to do our part, and it is our hope that smaller businesses across the country and around the world will also make whatever size donation they are able to make. We feel that it vital that no one discounts the value of their contribution, and everyone pulls together and helps the thousands who have lost loved ones and were displaced in mere moments.”

Social responsibility has been important to Just Eyewear since its inception. The company has provided micro-finance loans through Kiva since its founding and regularly participates in other charitable efforts.

The company also has a mission of bringing affordable glasses to everyone.
