Did you know that all over the world, 3 to 6 billion trees are cut down every year. This has to do with the demand for items that are created from trees. Such as lumber to construct houses, paper for writing on and even toilet paper for, well you know. We all need to assume responsibility in saving our forests even if there are products we have to use that are made from trees.
While I know that we have Arbor Day, and all of us must plant a tree every Arbor Day, that is merely taking care of a small part of the problem. This is because almost all individuals aren’t going out and planting a tree. If they did their share and planted trees, we would be all ready to go.
Would you believe that there are roughly 7 billion people on Earth? The actual numbers essentially fluctuate and so this is a calculated guess. The number of trees globally would be restored if each individual planted a tree on Arbor Day. The chance of this taking place is small.
Hence, planting trees is something you should consider if you are worried about the air we breathe and the Earth. And I don’t mean to merely go out once every year and plant a tree. Once a month is a good objective or why not each week? The reason is because someone should compensate for all of those using our resources but don’t want to plant a tree for whatever reason.
Would you believe that on Arbor Day, only between 8 and 15 million trees are planted? That still results to a 5 billion tree deficit annually. And annually, it only continues to get worse.
Whereas individuals have to make the effort to plant trees, I have an idea that might resolve this once and for all. What could really take care of this problem is if each lumber company or tree farmer, by law, had to plant two saplings for each tree they cut down, so our tree issue wouldn’t be an issue for long.
We will need to continue to deal with this issue ourselves until there is the political willpower to make these changes. Trying to keep those tree numbers up won’t actually take a good deal of effort. For example, if just 10% of the people on Earth planted a tree once a month, it would cover the amount of trees that are cut down yearly. On average, that would be approximately 7 billion trees being planted each year. For the number of trees we need to return to, an effective net gain of 1 billion trees will be the way to reach this goal.
And so for anyone who desires to make a positive difference to our planet, go plant a tree. Once more, it just takes 10% of the total number of people in the world to begin making a difference. You decide if you want to get involved.
