Reasons You Should Appeal Parking Tickets.

September 5, 2024

Since the days of legalisation in 1990′s the parking control were given to the local councils from the police who has led to a sharp increase in the amount of parking ticket issued to motorists. This in turn has lead to a high increment in parking ticket appeal from the common people.

There are many people that believe this increase in price is due to the city needing more funding, and the excess tickets are paying for it. While some might dispute this, others have noted that the theory seems to hold up quite well when the ticket increases correlate with the city’s rising taxes.

Motorists are becoming increasingly angry at the rise in the price of parking fines and are refusing to pay. With the cost now rising to something like 120 pounds it is not surprising.

It is always a good idea to contest a parking ticket if you genuinely feel hard done by or think the parking fine was unfairly issued to you. Around 50% of motorists who decide to appeal their parking ticket win their appeal. Half the time Local Councils do not even bother to turn up at these parking appeals.

This is not to say that parking tickets are unnecessary. As a matter of fact it is widely accepted that a lack of parking tickets would cause utter chaos, and the Local Council would not have the budget it needed. In addition to that, the Council Tax would be raised due to a lack of revenue from parking fines.

Well that is the theory behind having to buy a parking ticket and receiving a parking fine for breaking the law. In reality traffic wardens are under increasing pressure to issue more and more tickets to unsuspecting motorists.

If you wish to avoid tickets altogether, then it would be a good idea to pay attention to where you are actually parking. For instance make sure that you are not parking on a public road that is specifically marked against parking. If you do park in an illegal spot then you may be subject to a huge parking fine.

Appealing and getting a parking ticket in your hand is very easy procedure and majority people after claiming get it very rapidly. But still this is a very common fact that 99% pay traffic fine even after getting parking tickets. One simply needs to write a letter and pass it to the local council who grants the appeal in all cases. Or one can also let these things through email in a much easier way.

So sitting down at your comfort level in house and writing up a simple mail or a letter in 10minutes to save 30-120 pounds is too much hassle for you? Of course this is not. But the problem is that many people doesn’t even realise how easy and compact it is to write the appealing letter or the mail. This is where the website explains you to deal the parking ticket appeal letters by providing you with template letters or even appealing for you.

To make the parking appeal a successful one,one needs to provide evidence that the parking ticket issued is legally invalid. Examples include providing photographic evidence that the offence did not occur or signs were not correctly displayed etc. with this attempt of nearly two third people that it is invalid and illegal way to issue the appeal retains a greater chance to win.

Other than using evidences gathered from photograph one can also use a technicality mentioned on the parking ticket itself. Basic technicalities are all to do with what is written on the parking ticket. Suppose if one got it as saying that you were parked in Smith Street when in fact you were parked in Smith Road, in that case you can possibly argue that it’s a misconception and this incident not even occurred giving you chances to win the parking ticket appeal.

Again there is yet another new relative phenomenon called private parking tickets. In this the ticket appears similar to what a traffic warden gives you only the distinction from normal ticket is it will say something like “Parking Charge Notice pay within 14 days for a reduced rate. Non payment will result in us contacting the D.V.L.A. for your details.”

Its an appeal that please do not give bothering to these private parking tickets. In most cases if you write to them they wont receive your appeal and will turn down your offer for a legal parking ticket. The reason for discouraging is that they will constantly pest you with empty threats because these are not parking tickets but illegal invoices.

To make this point clear one such instance is describes for a company called Euro car parks where there has been never taken any drivers to court till date and has issued parking tickets to all of them. Taking a person to court proves him as registered keeper (when you enter their car park you enter in to a contract). That is clearly to say they would need to prove that it is in fact who was driving the car while the fees was being charged. Thus if also they prove you of driving the car during that hour they would be entitled to be the amount you should of paid e.g. 2 pounds for an hours extra parking.

To sum up do not pay the parking ticket even if you receive 3 or 4 threatening letters. Ignore them and they will go away or reply saying send me any more letters and I will bring a court order on you for harassment then ignore the rest of the letters they send you. As with all other parking tickets never pay up until you have gone to a parking ticket appeal service company to see if there is a technicality or some useful advice they can offer you.
