Many people think they need more equipment than they really do when they first start golfing. Until you’ve learned more of the basics of the game, you won’t need all the bells and whistles that are available. You won’t benefit from the advanced equipment, anyway, until you’ve mastered the basics. As you assemble your beginning golf kit, keep the following important pieces in mind.
The first thing that you should devote your money toward is a nice driver. The first thing you need to be knowledgeable of is that there are some “specialty” drivers which aren’t exactly approved by the PGA. Along with where you are and what your objective may be as a golfer, this might not be a drawback for you. When you discuss drivers, everyone has their own individual needs. In general, drivers with flexible shafts provide greater distance but less control. If you have difficulty with hooks, slices, or rogue balls you may wish to let go of distance for more control by using a steel shafted driver. You should also take a bit of time to delve into the most comfortable shaft length for you to utilize prior to spending money also. This will take some testing to ascertain what the best length is, yet it will be time well spent in terms of lower amounts of back pain after 18-holes.
Having ball markers is also important.
This equipment is especially important if you play with a group. These markers are used to mark where your ball stopped on the green and won’t interfere with the play of the others in your group. The person farthest from the hole plays first according to golf etiquette. The play of the others in your group could be disrupted by your ball if a marker is not used on the green. When playing with a group, it is incredibly important to have ball markers and they’re not expensive.
The final piece of equipment you should invest in is a good set of beginner’s golf clubs. Don’t invest in the priciest set of golf clubs available when you’re first learning how to golf. You do not yet know if you need steel shafts or flexible shafts. You also won’t know the height you need for the best fit. As a beginner, you’re not ready to decide if a pair of gloves or new clubs will help you gain more control and get better distance. Beginners will find many pieces of golf equipment that they consider buying. This is one sport where there are all kinds of bright, shiny, and distracting gadgets and gizmos to choose from. When you take your time and buy only the pieces of golf equipment you absolutely need as a beginner then you can build up your inventory as you become more proficient at the game and more serious about playing. If you start out with these basics, you will find you are ready for the next level in no time.
